Epilation

I took Ethan to Ulta to shop for me for mother’s day. He was SO excited that he decided to give me my stuff tonight. And hey, who am I to argue? One of the things he got me was the Silk-épil SoftPerfection which I had pointed out to him on the first pass through the store.

I figured it this way … my poor legs itch like hell every time I shave so I wind up not shaving as often as I’d like. This isn’t a shaver so there are no blades to scrape my poor skin. It’s literally plucking the hair out so hopefully, that means longer between de-hairing. And also, the more you pluck, the lighter and less dense the hair in that area becomes. Supposedly. So.. I pointed it out and he got it and I squealed when i opened it and told him what an awesome…

Garnier 100% Color v/s Feria

Monday, June 18, 2007 17:25 No Comments

A few months ago, I decided to go a brighter, darker shade of red than my natural color. Red is a hard color to dye your hair. It’s difficult to keep it from getting brassy if you have ANY blond in your hair, and I do. It usually fades quickly and it’s hard to keep it looking great.

I chose Feria. I was REALLY happy with the color. It looked really natural and I kept getting compliments on it. When I went to get a hair cut, a customer complimented my hair dresser on my color! :) The color lasted and stayed bright and beautiful for the full expected 6 weeks.

Last month, I was broke though. I found Garnier 100% color on sale for like $3 at Ulta so I bought two boxes. Boy, was I disappointed! It was 100% color, alright… and it fully colored my hair. But it…

New Hair

I always get compliments on my hair. Not because it’s perfect hair.. but because my hair dresser, she is fab. I finally went back to red not too long ago. It just wasn’t staying brown, no matter how hard I tried. :) And then I went yesterday and got it cut again. There are pictures below the cut. Hah.. get it? Pictures of my cut… below the… eh.. :)

I have sent three other people to this salon - not including my DH and kids, who now go there too. I highly recommend it. Any of the stylists are good. Beth is my personal hair savior though. I have full faith that I can tell her to do whatever she wants to do and it always turns out cute.

The Non Girliest Makeup Shopper Ever

Thursday, November 16, 2006 9:33 1 Comment

I have pale, sensitive skin that burns easily and my lips are allergic to most lip products. My skin literally breaks out in hives after taking a shower without soap if that is any indication of just HOW sensitive we’re talking here. The lips? They peel layer by layer if I put anything on them they don’t like. The joy of being beautiful me.

As if that weren’t bad enough, I wasn’t allowed to wear it as a kid so I missed the Super Secret Girly Makeup 101 that other girls went to and I am generally clueless about makeup. As a result of the sensitivities and the lack of knowledge, I don’t wear a lot of makeup. I do have some sort of fascination with shopping for beauty products though. The few times I have to shop for it are excursions into a wonderland of color and dazzling promises…

Almay Whipped Gloss

I have really sensitive lips. For as long as I can remember, when I wear lipstick or lip gloss, my lips peel. Depending on the lip product, they might peel the point of raw and bleeding. It’s become a factor in wearing lipstick for me. I exfoliate right before application and I just assume that no matter how ‘long wearing’, because of the peeling, I will have to reapply. I found a couple of lipsticks that worked better than others - but lip glosses continued to elude me. Oh to be glossy! To have that shine on my lips that brings out my eyes. Sparkly, shiny lips… sigh

Then I ran across Almay Whipped Gloss. Almay products have traditionally been safer for sensitive skin so I gave it a shot. It worked! The whipped goloss is a heavy shine that leaves my lips soft and feeling nice when it’s gone..…

So while it’s nice to see the fine lines go away, it’s REALLY nice to see an all around much more youthful appearance.

I’ve been using it for 4 or 5 months. I have a T-Zone oily complexion and sensitive skin. I use the cleanser in my shower and the moisturizer in the mornings. It rocks.
