It’s Been 7 Years

Thursday, January 3, 2008 16:01 1 Comment

That’s longer than I’ve been in any relationship without breaking up. That’s longer than I’ve lived in any one place and almost as long as I lived in once city. That’s almost as old as my son and almost a QUARTER OF MY LIFE.

What am I talking about, dear readers? But my bloggiversary, of course. It is now January of 2008 and I have been blogging since January of 2001. Since before it was cool, hip or trendy. Since the time when I said the word ‘blog’ out loud and everyone looked at me as if I had just suggested that the earth was really a giant cube.

My blog… is my blog. And well. It does bloggy things. Like trigger nasty hate emails and wonderful, friendly OMGTHANKYOU emails. It is also the center around which my universe spins. I KID. (but do I?) (hah.. I do.) (?) (.) (seriously.)

This year, it served up…

Access

Sunday, December 9, 2007 11:43 No Comments

There were some issues with private post access… so even if you had access, some private posts weren’t showing up. So category archives might look like they only had a couple of posts… that sort of thing. It’s fixed.

That is all.

Wordpress Upgrade

Friday, December 7, 2007 17:08 No Comments

I upgraded to the latest and greatest version today. There is some weirdness getting to archives that I’m trying to track down but otherwise(this should be fixed… it was only on when you were on a date archive trying to get to a category archive.) It was painless. The new version isn’t a whole lot different but I got some pretty snazzy new ajax plugins that I’m playing with. I’m such a nerd.

Semi-Private

Sunday, December 2, 2007 20:23 2 Comments

This post is occasionally reposted for the benefit of new readers. If you’ve seen it, ignore it and move on.

About once a year, I go - oops! I should make that stuff private! And it’s that time of year again. Because some of the stuff I post about is sensitive to me and my life, In ‘05, this blog switched to semi-private. That means that although some posts will show up for everyone even if they aren’t logged in, some posts are private and only show up for people who are logged in.

If you have access to private entries already, just log in and you will see the private entries mixed in with the public ones (indicated by ‘Private’ in the title). Only the non-private posts are cross posted to LJ.

If you want to see the private stuff but don’t have access, create an account and fill out your profile so…

Going Pro

Tuesday, March 27, 2007 12:13 No Comments

I’ve been blogging for 6 years now. I do it cuz I love it. Website design is fun for me. Having a website is fulfilling. They don’t pee on the carpet and they don’t take up lots of storage space in the garage. And so… with this shift in my life away from things I DONT want to do professionally and into things I DO want to do professionally, professional blogging is one of the things moving in.

Pro blogging doesnt mean I get any better at doing it, unfortunately. But it does mean that I will be cleaning up ’round here, taking a little extra time to make sure I blog and blog well and adding some ads to help bring in some cash. Nothing intrusive, hopefully, and definitely stuff that I’m interested in - so if you’re a reader, potentially you will be interested in it too.

And that’s…

It’s a Bloggiversary

Thursday, January 18, 2007 9:58 No Comments

There are 9 posts in January of 2001, all of which are now private. That is 6 years of blogging. So it is fitting that I choose this month to make some pretty big changes. You might not see them at first. A ripple here, a murmer there, a shift over yunder. But changes, they are afoot.

I’m editing every single entry since January 2001 for spelling and content. I’m privatizing some stuff and recategorizing other stuff. The end result *drumroll* will be a couple of books. Wowee, right? It’s a big deal for me. I’m ok with wanting to write a book and I’m gonna do it. I have two topics in mind but in all of this editing of the last 6 years of my life, the topics might change or develop in other ways so I don’t want to box myself in just yet.

Also, I’m shifting…

NaBloPoMo Reflections

Thursday, November 30, 2006 9:14 No Comments

Today is the 30th. The last day of NablopMo. I thought it would be easy to blog every day without fail. I mean… I do it already anyways. Might as well enter to win a few prizes while I’m at it, right? It posed a few challenges though.

First, I was out of town for two and a half days this month which NEVER happens. It was like some sort of Nablopmo conspiracy to schedule it RIGHT int he month my ONE vacation away from home without kids or husband in over 8 years is scheduled. In order to post, I had to get my Treo set up to do so. I wound up posting from the road both days. I did score major geek points from my car mates for doing so though. I dont think that the full awe of the magic of the Treo set in until…

Linky Goodness

Cop out post today! :)

Enjoy some other Nablopmo bloggers with the Auto Nablopmo blog reader thingy. It has a thing at the top of the page that goes from participant to participant.

Also, because I’m just sadistic like that, here are some addictive games for your enjoyment. Guaranteed to make you whine ‘Hold OOOOOOOOn’ at your kids. Of special interest are insaniquarium and bejeweled. Both of which I now have on my Treo.
