It Matters What You Say
Monday, July 23, 2007 12:22 No Comments“That’s so gay.”
and
“She’s such a witch!”
How many of my straight friends are guilty of saying “That’s so gay!”? C’mon… don’t be shy. I’ve heard you do it. You’re BUSTED. :) Now think… what EXACTLY did you mean when you said that? Why use the word gay? When confronted, one person answered “because… that’s just what you say.”. Unfortunately, our society has not really made a habit of piling nonsensical words into sentences just for the sake of doing it.
Gay means two things… happy and/or homosexual. Let’s assume that you didn’t mean “That’s so happy!”. And because the term “That’s so gay” usually refers to something that is “not masculine or macho”, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that usage of the word PROBABLY came from the fact that it’s defined as meaning “homosexual”.
So… if you’re using a term for homosexual in a condescending way…
In Between
Friday, June 8, 2007 16:06 1 CommentWhat if I don’t WANT to choose? What if I don’t feel the need to do so?
Of course I want the best of both worlds. Who wouldn’t?
Might I point out that you say that “I just want to have the best of both worlds” as if you’re jealous.
What if I like being just a little inappropriately open minded?
So I’m married to a straight man. That doesn’t mean I have to be straight, have to want to be straight or am more prone to being straight.
What if I like being smack in the middle?
It’s difficult to make my pussy conform to your hangups and I’m not really inclined to attempt it.

All Prideful and Schtuph
Saturday, July 29, 2006 18:11 1 CommentI went to Pride today. It was my very first pride ever. I went with Elmirion and sexxyred1 paid my way into the festival because I was brokdededed. It was kinda nice. There were lots of people… lots of gay people and they were all happy and friendly and open and PROUD. I LIKED that. I LIKED feeling like that part of me was ‘normal’ for a few hours.
There were twelve whole bisexuals in the parade. Count them. 12. I mean.. maybe there were some that didn’t march under the banner but I guess that is to say that bisexuality as a whole was very under-represented. And the dykes on bikes? Hot. There is something about a really hot lesbian on a really big, mean bike that just did it for me. They had WAY better bikes than the boys did, btw. Some of the politicians looked a little shell…
My Loving Boy
Thursday, May 18, 2006 8:01 No CommentsWe pulled up to his day care this morning and he asks
“Mom… what is the OTHER meaning of gay?”
I pull out my checkbook to write a check and used the moment to rush my thoughts together.
Me: “Well… there is the gay that means happy and there is the gay that means homosexual.”
Doh! There is that s-e-x word. And THAT will be the only syllable in the entire sentence that he hears. That word that he’s heard whispered in the bathroom by other little boys who don’t know what it means any more than he does. OH THE CURIOSITY.. MUST - KNOW - WHAT - SEX - IS.
Him: “HomoSEXual? What does that mean? ”
Me: “It is when someone loves and is attracted to only people of their own gender.”
Him: “Oh… are you homosexual?”
Quick! In 2 seconds or less.. do you come out to your son or not? He’s six. Will he understand? Yes.. Can he…

Sunday, April 16, 2006 18:31 1 CommentGLBT (LGBT? I’ve seen it both ways?) - that includes bisexual people. Like me. How fucking cool is that?
I know, I know. Hasn’t it lost it’s newness YET?
No.. not really.
It’s REALLY nice to see gay media. I watched Brokeback Mountain and got a girl-hard-on. Not because it had anything at all to do with women but because it was just HOT. And horribly tragic.. but hot, none the less. And I watched the first 4 episodes of the L Word’s second season yesterday. That was Me’s fault, btw - but I thoroughly enjoyed. It’s REALLY nice, to watch the glaad media awards. Logo is the bomb.
There are other bi people out there! I’m not an isolated minority!
I know that sounds utterly ridiculous that this is just ‘dawning’ on me - but it is just so damned refreshing, after all of these years, to get some sense of normalcy…
Logo
Tuesday, February 28, 2006 13:33 No CommentsI flipped the channel last night to logo and watched a few episodes of Trans-generation. I dig the show. Although I can’t relate to it on a personal level as I’m sure it was intended, it was so insanely interesting to follow real people going through the process leading up to sexual reassignment surgery.
Even more wonderful, for me was to see ads and clip between shows that are non-straight oriented. A WHOLE gay channel that doesnt center around gay MEN! It includes me! I mean, granted… television and movies have been a little more open in the last 5 years or so.. Will and Grace, Queer as Folk and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy are programs that became ‘mainstream’ that centered around homosexuality. But all of those people are MEN. The world is ok with two women making out so it’s not so racy to portray that on television.. remember…
This weekend - exercise, bisexuality and forehead wrinkles
Monday, March 15, 2004 9:49 No CommentsI guess this was one of those weekends where I spent time thinking about me and who I am and who I want to be.. what’s ok with me and what isnt.
I’ve decided that the low carb thing taught me a valuable lesson about what I need to be eating for my energy levels. BUT.. I also know that the way I’ve been eating with the low carb thing isnt the healthiest. It’s severely lacking veggis and fruits! :) So I’m not going to do low carb anymore BUT.. I am going to eat protien instead of carbs when I’m low on energy.. and lots of the low carb stuff really works for me.. like sugar free drinks and snacks, protein shakes in the morning etc.
I frown too much. Yes. My brow is in an almost permanent wrinkle. I need to smooth out my frown and be more peaceful…
I watched Real World a
Sunday, March 10, 2002 12:43 No CommentsI watched Real World a minute ago. My chance to immerse myself in someone else’ drama with no danger of being dragged in :)
Ok, first.. the angry black guy calls his dad in wherever to ask ‘dad, is being gay a sin?’.. of course his dad says yes.. his comment was ‘God says being gay is a sin so I cant go to that event’.. no see.. GOD didnt say being gay was a sin.. your dad TOLRyan you god said being gay was a sin.. and HE probably never bothered to ASK god.. he probably heard that from a PREACHER who read a sentence in the BIBLE and ASSUMED it meant that whoever wrote that passage thought being gay was a sin.. UPON the assumption that whoever wrote it was actually writing what ‘GOD’ said.. and the fifteen interpretations that came between then and now accurately transposed whatever…
