This one is True

True story :

I once was a king of a far away land. We rode horses through fields of purple flowers, we sang songs around campfires and we slaughtered pigs for dinner.

There was a girl who lived there and then. She was beautiful. Blond hair to her waist that blew in the wind when she stood at the top of the cliffs over looking the ocean. Her name was Marabelle and we were married for many years.

On the outside, she was shy and quiet, but on the inside she was laughter and joy. We had two children… Desmond and Harold. They grew up to be hunters.

Yesterday, she cooked a pot roast that was horrendous. I didn’t tell her that but it was really gross. She gets really pissed off and says nasty things when I don’t tell her it was wonderful. The other day? She called me a pig’s ass…

Believe in Love?

Do you believe in love at first sight?
Do you believe you can be in love more than once in a lifetime?
Do you believe it’s possible to grow to love someone you didn’t choose?
Do you believe you can love more than one people at a time and not detract from the others?
Do you believe it’s possible to love and not like?
Do you believe that if you love something, let it go and it comes back to you, its yours forever?

I guess if you’ve never really experienced love, you might think love had something to do with belief.

Computer Profile Won’t See or Browse Workgroup Computers in WinXP

Problem : There are several computers in Carrie Land. Two of them had an argument today. One is a desktop, the other is a laptop. I reloaded the laptop and it said “NAY… I will NOT see the workgroup.” Only ONE of the new profiles on the laptop (exact same profiles as pre-reload) would see the workgroup. So for instance, the ‘Carrie’ profile could see the workgroup and the ‘kids’ profile could not. The desktop could see the laptop in the workgroup and browse it’s shares. I could use ‘run’ and open desktop shares from the laptop… just couldn’t see the workgroup computers and browse them.

I’m using : WinXP Pro, DHCP and Advanced file sharing.

All of this, of course, was working before the reload.

I tried every possible solution I could find. I took all of the FindNode’s out of the registry, deleted the workgroup and recreated it with a different…

How to Re-Install Windows XP Without a CD-ROM drive

Tuesday, July 28, 2009 11:59
Posted in category Geek, How Tos

This works under the following conditions :

  • You have a working computer that you want to reload but it doesn’t have a (working) CD-ROM drive
  • You have a working computer with a working CD-ROM
  • These computers are on a network together and can share files

In my case, I have a REALLY old (9 years?) laptop that I let visitors use that needed to be reloaded. It’s dying piece by piece and the CD-ROM was one of the first to go.

You will need : Your Windows XP CD and key (this is not a hack for WinXP), MagicISO, Daemon Tools Lite

  1. Put your WinXP cd into the working computer’s CD-ROM.
  2. Download MagicISO onto the computer with the working CD-ROM. Using MagicISO, create an ISO file from the CD. An ISO file is an image of the CD… or a duplicate copy. In MagicISO, click ‘tools’ and ‘make ISO from CD’.
  3. Copy the new ISO file from the…

10 Ways to Reject a Guy Before the First Date

Don’t just go on a date with everybody who crosses your radar. How miserable would you be on said date if he were a total loser? Here are 10 ways to pick the losers out before you wind up on a date with them. And I suppose these could be used for girls too, to a certain extent… but girls have a different set of warning signs, really.

While emailing/talking, listen for these warning signs :

  1. He is over the age of 25, doesn’t have a job, lives with his parents or doesn’t have a car. Or he has a job but he hates it, doesn’t make much and doesn’t know ‘what he wants to do with his life’. While we all have periods of time like that, but if you’re looking for quality, by 25, he should have a pretty good idea of where he’s headed and should DEFINITELY…

Crashing

Three souls, swirling, touching, passing by in misty forms that never are, coliding, unsure
untrusting, fronting. Why would there be three? An oblivious laughter and smile floats by. In passing, over the shoulder, flying past, across and through like a breeze that passed without stopping for me. Make meek apology, head down, shameful, humbly, asking please.
Hate wrapped up in a doll, humble me, teach me, show me your venom. Let me feel it course through my veins to grow and expand beyond the days of peaceful respite.
Worlds tumbling together, are they?
Temptation in the dark crevasses of a soulful look beneath a blanket of hatred. Is it sand through fingers, the unavailable conundrum or simply a pace that wanders? Between the differences, there is begging, afraid and pushing or past, temptation in the depths.
Grasping at strands less substantial than me, pick me up and carry me away somewhere other than here, please.

What a Witch Believes About Christianity and it’s Tenets

Bearing in mind that I am only one witch and do not speak for all witches, here’s what I think.

On The Bible

I believe that the Bible is an interesting historical reference and a wonderful book of wisdom that can be applied in ways different than most Christians apply it. For instance, I don’t believe that the Father, the son and the holy ghost actually portray separate entities (and Christianity also teaches the paradox that they are the same being, depending upon the church you go to). Rather, I believe that those are our parts of self - id, ego, super ego - or fetch, talker, high self.

I also believe that there are quite a few reasons not to depend upon the Bible for day to day decisions:

  • The books of Jasher (referred to in Joshua 10:13 as Book of the Upright (Sēper haiYāšār)) and Shemaiah. Never heard of those? That’s because…

What It’s Like to be Face Blind

Tuesday, July 14, 2009 15:37

Being face blind means not being able to differentiate between or remember faces. I am not entirely face blind but if I had to guess at a percentage, probably 80-90%. That means that I am able to recognize people sometimes, given certain situations. People who are completely face blind don’t recognize faces at all.

There are lots of great sites about face blindness so I won’t seek to educate you on the actual condition. However, here are some tidbits from my world of face blindness.

It occurred to me, out of the blue, yesterday that if I had to pick my roommate, who I have known for about a month and have lives with for two weeks, out of a line of guys, the only thing I could remember about him was his hair. There is truly no record of what his face looks like and it just caught me off guard to…

Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)

Green Day

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don’t ask why
It’s not a question, but a lesson learned in time

It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it’s worth it was worth all the while

It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right.

Our Second Service Dog Task

Cody is well on his way where his training is concerned. At home has ironically been the biggest hurdle. He’s so naturally protective that he kinda wants to bully right up to the top of the pecking order when people come by. However, to that very protective end, his next service dog task wasn’t quite as difficult to train.

PTSD or post traumatic stress disorder can be caused by any number of traumas and among other symptoms, leaves the person feeling unsafe or on edge much of the time. One of my big safety concerns has always been keeping the house safe. So it made sense that, when caused by an event occurring in my home, entering the house would become a trigger.

Cody has been trained to ‘go check’ when we enter the house. He waits for permission to go in. I let him off lead and tell him…
