Pet Rehoming or Adoption Fees

I have a bone to pick with these screwballs that charge $50-$100 ‘rehoming’ or adoption fees for animals that need homes.
I want a kitten that is in need of a home. No need to be purebred or anything fancy… just a kitten that will grow up in our house and will have a great family and live a happy life.
There are all of these organizations that take in foster animals to find them homes and they all whine and moan and bitch about how expensive it is and about how much they need support. And then the perfect adoptive family comes along (like mine) and they want to charge me an arm and a leg to adopt one of these creatures that is apparently eating them out of house and home.
Arguments for charing the fee :
Screen out bad homes or people who want to use the animals in labs : I get that. But once you’ve visited my home and seen that I really want one, couldnt we agree that suffices?
If I cant pay the rehoming fee I cant afford the animal : Bullshit. I can’t afford $100 up front IN ADDITION to what it will require to care for the animal. For me to add a kitten will cost me next to nothing because I own everything I need already.
Because it costs money to foster ALL of these animals that you foster and you obviously have something I want and should be willing to support your cause because of it : I’m not paying you to have the PRIVILEGE of adopting a kitten from your organization that apparently can’t afford to operate. I will do you the FAVOR of taking an animal off of your hands that needs a home.
You paid for it’s shots and neuter : This one is passable… As long as I couldnt get it done for half the price.
