Low Cal Yogurt and Coffee Breakfast

I couldn’t find fat free, low cal fruit yogurt with actual fruit in it that didn’t taste like ass or cost an arm and a leg so I make my own.

I buy frozen strawberries and black cherries. They are usually cheaper frozen and I don’t eat them fast enough to buy them fresh. I divide them up into freezer bags and thaw them out as I need them. The black cherries are higher in calorie content and a lot sweeter - so they make a nice dessert rather than an every day thing. I buy the biggest container of yogurt I can, because it’s cheaper that way. Then I scoop out what I need at each serving. If I’m making yogurt for work or school that week, I make a big batch and scoop it into small containers and put them in the fridge.

1/2 cup strawberries - 25 cal - that is a pretty big strawberry to yogurt ratio -and technically, it takes more calories to burn them than they have in them
1 cup plain, non fat yogurt - 120 cal - 1 cup is A LOT of yogurt
4 tsp splenda - 0 cal

Mix it together. use either strawberries or cherries - or both, if you’re feeling adventurous. If you’re using strawberries, chop the berries with the spoon in the bowl to make it quicker.

Don’t be fooled. The red strawberry juice that pools around them when they thaw is not sweet and delicious. It’s rather bitter, actually. It doesn’t taste so good in the yogurt and it makes it soupy.

1 cup of coffee - 0 cal
with a tad bit of non fat, lactose free milk - 7 cal
1 tsp splenda - 0 cal

Because of the protein content, I stay full till lunch. I can satisfy my need to munch by eating slowly and it takes quite a bit of time to eat. The kids really like the yogurt too so it’s a nice lower sugar, healthy snack for them.
